The BEACH OF CALAFELL, old fishermen village, where the tourist phenomena has transformed this part of the town into an especially commercial, gastronomic and entertaining area.

Interesting places

CALAFELL CASTLE, 11 th century (Calafell).
At the top of the hill, where the village rises high, there's the Castle of Santa Croix from the 11 th century. The visitor can see the remains of the high-medieval necropolis, with tombs dug out the stone. Next to it, there's the nave and the apse of the ancient Romanic church. We can also contemplate several pictures in fresco which decorate the interior of the church. In the 17 th century, a porch was built up: a square building opened to the four winds, designed to prevent the storms and evils and blessing the town.

IBERIAN FORTRESS (Beach of Calafell).
Calafell was inhabited by the Iberian two thousand years ago. After twenty archaeological excavations and an accurate research of documentation, it can be reproduced the aspect of walls, streets and houses where the people of this first autochthonous civilization lived. Going back to the Iberian period, we can discover and relive the history of our ancestors. Inside the Fortress, a fortified building of about 3.000 square metres, we can touch the replicas of the objects recovered form the excavations.

THE BARRAL HOUSE (Beach of Calafell).
The house of the writer and editor Carlos Barral, a sea lover and Calafell, is one of the few fishermen shops which is preserved from the old coast of Calafell. It was transferred by Barral's family to Calafell and it has recently been restored.
